Be,brave, try everything, taste the pied de cochonne and le Lange de Boeuf, and the partridge. Eat lots of cheese. This place is like a wee but of heaven on earth.

A friend recommended Le Garet and we are very pleased with the decision to dine there tonight. The staff was welcoming and helpful explaining traditional dishes. We arrived about 20h and we were seated upstairs. We recommend for locals and out of towners.

This is about as much Frenchness as you can shake a stick at. You’re in the heart of Lyon’s French Resistance movement of WW2, the venue frequented by Jean Moulin, and you have on offer truly traditional French cuisine deliciously cooked, generous portions and served by the warmly welcoming but very busy staff.

Amazing experience. Wonderful service and very kind, friendly and service minded people helping us to get amazing food and have a nice evening in Lyon! The food was so tasty, there was more than enough - we were so full after our visit at Le Garet! Would highly recommend this charming and very high quality restaurant! Starter: rillette with duck with tasty bread, pickles and cornichons - amazing! “A trip around Lyon” a lot of different things that’s traditional in Lyon Main: pork and cabbage Cheese and icecream.

If you are planning to go to a traditional Bouchon in Lyon, do yourself a favor and make this the one. Amazing food, excellent service, and just a lovely convivial atmosphere. You can tell you are amongst friends here. Bon appetit!

Just had another visit here tonight, the last one being 5 years ago. Still amazing. Not your cliche bouchon… the staff are convivial and helpful despite being busy. The food is amazing - absolutely authentic and uncompromising. Not an escargot in sight (and that’s a wonderful thing). We had a fun bottle of regional wine made by the chef: ask for it. Make a reservation and don’t mind where they seat you. Thats not the point.

A bouchon is a traditional Lyonnais restaurant known for serving hearty local dishes in a convivial atmosphere. The term “bouchon” originates from 16th-century inns frequented by silk workers, where a bundle of straw (bouchon) hung outside signified a place to eat and drink. Salade de cochonnailles is a rustic Lyonnais dish built around the region’s deep tradition of pork butchery. The word cochonnaille refers to assorted cold pork products—saucisson, jambon persillé, pâté, rillettes—all sliced and served over a bed of greens. Here they serve the salade de cochonnailles in large communal bowls, and you’re simply invited to help yourself—no limits.

Great food, great service! We noticed a few parties waiting before the restaurant opened, but we went in and asked for a table for two. The lady who welcomed us (possibly the owner) was so kind and accommodating. We were seated right away without a reservation. We ordered the grilled steak and beef cheek, and both were incredibly flavorful and juicy. We enjoyed every bite! It was a wonderful meal overall, and we highly recommend it if you are in the area!

I really like the atmosphere of the restaurant and the friendliness of everyone who serves their guests. The menu of this restaurant offers typical Lyon dishes and what I am very impressed with the service of this restaurant when I was confused to choose a dessert and asked for recommendations I was served a variety of three types of typical Lyon cheese which were very delicious even though I am not a fan of cheese and delicious creme caramel maison then given 1 additional portion for free. Thank you Le Garet and keep up your hospitality.
